Black Ops II, Battlefied 3, and Sniper Elite v2
Call
of Duty: Black Ops II
The test setups for Call of Duty: Black Ops
II is the same as in Call of Duty: Black Ops II Graphics Performance,
Benchmarked.
The GX60 does not have any problems with
frame rates in Black Ops II, in addition to a relatively obvious platform
bottleneck. Even at the highest setups, the Radeon HD 7970M does not seem to
have any problems to catch up with the GeForce GTX 680M.

Taking the details down a bit does not
boost the frame rates of this platform. At least in our tests, the too-slow
setting of an APU keeps us from having frame rates that go beyond an average of
43fps.
Dropping to low details kills off the
bottleneck to some extent, though this is not as much as on the two comparison
machines with Nvidia GPUs inside. But since we have more than 40fps in one of
the heaviest components of the game with every maximum setting, we do not
realize any reason to worry about playing Black Ops II on the GX60.
Battlefield
3
Battlefield
3
The test setups for Battlefield 3 are
similar to those in the Battlefield 3 Performance: 30+ Graphics Cards,
Benchmarked.
Battlefield 3 also shows that the GX60’s
Radeon HD 7970M has a capacity for processing the maximum detail settings
without encountering any problems. It has a slight advantage over the GeForce
GTX 680M at higher resolutions, while it doubles the performance of the GeForce
GTX 660m that is often present in the machines with the equivalent price.
Knocking the details down to High-quality
creates a slight increase in average frame rate, although the solutions based
on Nvidia have higher speeds.
Dropping to Medium quality makes another
slight increase. We again realize evidence of a platform bottleneck, since the
M18x is now much faster at all resolutions tested. Fortunately, most people
will want to play games at the native resolution of this computer. And with the
frame rates that seem to be playable when using Ultra user-quality settings,
the GX60 retains its advantage.
Sniper
Elite V2
Sniper
Elite V2
The preset test for Sniper Elite V2 puts a
lighter-than-usual load on a system’s CPU, but it provides a heavy GPU
workload. These tests illustrate the raw GPU handling power that the GX60’s
Radeon HD 7970M owns.
With the maximum setups at Ultra quality,
AMD’s Radeon HD 7970M crushes the two Nvidia cards. The GX60 will
certainly play Sniper Elite V2 at any setting.
Dropping to the High quality setting makes
a little change about the position of these three mobile platforms.
Dropping to Medium quality setting enables
each configuration to keep on speeding up. Until now, the loss of fidelity does
not seem to change any the workload balance for any of the host processors.
Finally, every card switches to the Low
quality settings. It is interesting to realize that at 1,920x1,080, the Radeon
HD 7970M Ultra is faster with Ultra settings than the GeForce GTX 680M at Low
settings.
