Fujifilm X-Pro1 : Mechanical dials are everywhere

Fujifilm X-Pro1 is rousing the market with nice nostalgic design and excellent image quality. We have used it for weeks and these are what got our attentions.

Mechanical dials are everywhere

We like digital dials much for not only they make setting adjustments fast but also bring us back to time before everything was digitized. Following its nostalgic feeling, X-Pro 1 has a lot of dials for exposure, capture speed (with lock on top and no ISO), command as well as levers for modes and focuses. Even it is greater that there’s also an ability of changing aperture directly on lens like old models.

Optical or digital focus

Description: Fujifilm X-Pro1

Fujifilm has solved the problem with optical lens by providing hybrid lens which are able to give a digital viewing range in 1.4M-dot resolution. It allows you to see photo accurately just like the sensor does. Uninterested in focusing lens? You can always process pictures by using rear 3inch LCD screen plus 1.2M-dot resolution, totally perfect for reviewing.

3 lenses don’t make the summer

Description: Fujifilm X-Pro1

Having 3 lenses in your inventories is not enough yet they are all first-class. Fujifilm developed a new mount for X-Pro1 (X-mount), with FUJINO XF Lens series having 3 top lenses – XF 18mm F2 R, XF 60mm F2.4 R Macro and XF 35mm F1.4 R (my fastest and favorite one). There are more 7 lenses which are likely to be introduced in spring.

New sensor is the main feature

For X-Pro1, Fujifilm developed APS-CX-Trans CMOS sensor (16MP) which is claimed to “be on par with or even superior to full frame sensor”. We didn’t have tool to test this seeming overstatement but some known experts did compliment on X-Pro1’s sensor. Honestly, from our test photos, quality appeared excellent though it was a little pity that autofocus took much time.

Exceptionally high cost

For $2347 is just only the body, X-Pro1 is clearly designated for real photographers. However, with such powerful body, interesting Film Stimulation modes and wonderful lenses plus nostalgic look, this camera is absolutely a seduction.
