We
found the Pivots very comfortable
The Pivot on-ear headphones from InCase are
all about minimalist design – a thin, light headband holding two smallish
earpiece discs, each containing a 4cm driver.
It’s all covered in a rubberized plastic
with felt-like ear cushions. Our review pair was all-grey (‘Ash’) with pink
accents showing through the mesh of the ear cushions and a pink inline
remote/mic, but the Pivots are also available in Black/Green, Primer/Apple
Green, Dove/Blue and Flint Stone/Pop Pink combos.
The only trouble with the minimalist design
is the lack of a strong indication of which earpiece is right and which is
left. There’s a very small ‘R’ embossed on the right stalk, but it’s hard to
see.
We found the Pivots very comfortable. They
are a bit flimsy, however. Our review unit’s right ear cup snapped off when we
were taking them out of a bag.
The audio is a little thin, so while all
the elements of good sound are here, it’s shifted towards the treble. This
means that, while the sound is pleasant and very listenable, there’s no driving
bass and the treble is a bit bright.
The coloration, or character, of headphones
is always a personal thing, however, so if you don’t like the brassiness of the
Beats By Dr Dre, for example, you’ll probably like the sound of the Pivots.
In-call audio is fine, if a little tinny.
Buying advice. A nice middle-of-the-road option for those who want very comfy,
good-looking headphones with decent sound at a price that won’t break the bank.
