2/6/2013 5:28:32 PM

Pantum is new name of PCA. This Chinese company hopes that it will become one of the producers of the leading laser printer at the end of 2015.

Description: Pantum P2050

Pantum P2050

The company starts everything by releasing the things that will be the cheapest model of its next printer. It plans to release a series of models that have higher technological features in 2013.

Pantum P2050 looks like a high-ranking version of a basic inkjet printer. This is black model, white gray model is present with name P2000.

Cover of printer is rather strong and black costume makes it look cold but intelligent. Its structure is strong and company tries to point using inside frame by metal instead of plastic.

However, paper trays aren’t the strongest types. And they can be rather sensitive. Paper won’t be detected by printer if it is pulled in the right margin.

Base on the thing that this printer’s price is $90, it’s surprised to see 2 input sources of paper. There is a main paper tray with sheets while the second paper tray allows you to charge paper traditionally.

We are pleased when we see that output paper tray is attached on the top and from there, pages that were printed will be confused with white paper.

It’s not surprised that basing on this price, you don’t have screen; instead of this, it has an only pressing button and 2 LED lights.

Connecting ability only has USB; if you need options of wireless or landline network connection, you will have to wait for Pantum to release more high-ranking models.

Simple feature of P2050 creates fast installing route. You only need to lift lid, set toner cartridge in and charge driver and you will finish nearly 5 minutes later.

Most of the declarations about speed of Pantum are reliable. It quotes 20ppm speed and we measured 15.8ppm with 10 sheets for working amount. It takes about 10 seconds for printer to print and later speed is asymptotic 20ppm. However, to you, ability of using printer like this for big printing is less and you can see 22.2ppm speed of Samsung ML-2955DW that is more expensive seems to be more attractive.

P2050 will not get any prize for quality of text, but it uses well. Although it is easy to read words, they are rather light. Pantum struggles with details that have smallest size of font. But printing text every day, its output is appropriate.

Pantum isn’t wonderful graphic printer, our testing printouts presents banding problem remarkably. Of course, it will struggle with complex document.

Price of printing isn’t the cheapest, but it is the thing that is prepared when you indicated to early price of printer. Toner cartridge of Pantum is available with capacity of 1,500 pages and 2,300 pages. Therefore, you have to pay about $4/page to the cartridge that has the highest capacity, or $6 for smaller version. You will spend about $4/page for ML-2955DW that competes with Samsung.

Of course, price of printing is an element that is calculated if you think that you will buy P2050 to use regularly.
