This is compact photo printer, but it is versatile and is
used at home.
Expression XP-605
XP-605’s size is only 390x341x138 mm, so it’s easy for you
to find a place for it. However, Epson succeeds in putting a 1,200x2,400-dpi
scanning organ into it and printing 2 sides, wireless connection, AirPrint for
iOS equipment, memory card slot and controllers of touch screen.
The equipment focusses on printing photographs that have
high quality. It only takes us 1 minute to print our tested printouts on
6x4-inch glossy postcard paper and 5,760x1,440dpi-resolution creates images
with beautiful details.
Printing text and graphic is also very good, among them,
Epson quotes 12ppm speed to black and white; 9ppm to color. Actually, we closed
in 10ppm speed to black and white and 7ppm to color, but it is good enough to a
family printer.
XP-605 uses its 5 own ink cartridges that include a special
black ink cartridge only for printing text. Price of XL version of this ink
cartridge is $24 and it can print 500 pages. Every page’s price is about $5.
When you print photo, you can use ink whose colors are red, cyan and
traditional yellow. In addition, there is a black ink cartridge that is used
for specific photo. For XL ink cartridge, every cartridge’s price is about $22
and it lasts 700 pages and it increases more 8.6p/ page. It is rather over
medium rate; however, it is acceptable if it is used lightly at home.
Advice for shopping
If you need some features such as printing 2 sides, cheaper
ejecting printers will be available for you. However, XP-605 printer is very versatile
and it will be ideal to share with other people on home network.
