Maybe you’re looking for a way to listen to music in your car without having to set a dock on the passengers seat. You can actually play music from your iOS device and amplify it through your car stereo speakers via a device called an FM Transmitter. There are a variety of ways to achieve sound through your car speakers and some new car stereo systems even come with special iOS dock and plug-ins. However, the FM Transmitter has been considered the easiest way to achieve solid results for a very low price point.

FM Transmitters

An FM Transmitter is actually very easy to use. One side of the transmitter hooks into your car’s auxiliary power outlet (cigarette lighter) and the other end hooks into the audio port on your iOS device. It varies from product to product, but more transmitters have a simplistic LCD screen, which you use to pick and set a random FM frequency (of your choice). For example, you would set the number to something random like 107.5 or 98.7, as long as its any nuber you would find on a typical FM radio, you’re fine. Once that frequency is set you will turn your cars stereo to the same frequency. Once that’s done, your iOS device will sync with your stereo, allowing you to play any music you have stored through your speaker system.

An FM Transmitter will work with any device that has a audio jack. iPads, iPhones, iPods, and even standard MP3 players are all fair game.
