The Sony VAIO SVT 11113FGS is a decent ultrabook
but it does have a few drawbacks.
The VAIO ultrabook deserves some praise in
the design department, it’s hard plastic build resembles its metallic
counterparts. The shiny edges add to the fashion statement, even though its
weight and dimensions make it a bit dated.

The 1.42 kg ultrabook is clearly aimed at
the corporate buyer, with 64-bit Windows 7 Home premium and some meaty
specifications housed in a297x 17.8x214.5mm chassis. The review unit came with
an Intel Core 15-331 7U processor, running at 1.70GHz with 4GB of RAM. Surprisingly,
the product comes with two USB ports (one USB2 and one USB3) while most of the
competitors offer at least three in a similar price range.

The 11.6-inch LED display has a resolution
of 1366 x 768, and a 1.3 megapixel camera is housed just above it to enable
video calling. The screen is average, the colours look washed out while viewing
it at an angle of more than 50 degrees. Just under the display, there are a few
useful keys allowing quick access to key functions. Useful utilities like a
remote keyboard with PlayStation 3 and VAIO Gate are bundled.

The regular keyboard is user- friendly,
though the keys are not backlit. We also liked the touchpad, with several
gesture options such as double and triple finger tapping. In terms of ports and
connectivity the ultrabook has a multi-card slot, a VGA port, an HDMI port and
a full-sized Ethernet port.

On the whole, the performance is at par
with most of the Intel i5-based computers. All in all, the VAIO T is a decent
buy barring the poor viewing angle and fewer USB3 ports.
