OKI MC361DN - Best SOHO color LED MFP

4/14/2012 8:56:43 PM

The MC361dn is a highly robust and feature-packed office workhouse; it’s equipped with 256MB RAM, a 533MHz CPU, a 350-sheet paper capacity, and a 50-sheet ADF. It’s also the only printer here that comes with a duplexing unit, as well as the options to increase RAM (up to 768MB) and add another paper tray (that brings total capacity to 880 sheets) should your needs increase down the road.

The MC361dn is a speed demon when it comes to printing. According to our tests, it prints 25ppm in mono and 22ppm in color. Its copy speeds also outpace the other two printers – about 24 vs. 12cpm in mono, and 19 vs. 3cpm in color. Quality is assured with Oki’s LED printing technology, especially at the ProQ2400 setting. This multifunction device is also very easy to use, thanks to its large 3.5-inch LCD and one-touch copy, scan, fax and print buttons. The MC361dn also comes with a range of energy-saving features, such as Eco and Deep Sleep modes.

Multifunctional excellence

So, you’re looking for a new printing solution for your office, but you’ve been unable to find something that actually has everything in your checklist of needs and wants. Your ideal printer has to be a multifunction device that handles print, scan, copy, and fax, plus it has to be able to do it in full color. You want to invest in something that’s rather advanced; what some may label as having ‘next-generation technology’. You demand convenience with performance; something that can handle large print jobs without choking, and comes with intelligent controls and media handling right out of the box. Lastly, you’re looking at cost saving, space saving, and preferably being green about the whole matter without compromising quality and productivity.

Well, this is actually the reason why the OKI MC361dn A4 Color MFP was awarded Editor’s Choice for Best SOHO Color LED MFP at the HWM + HardwareZone.com Tech Awards 2012. It does everything above…and more.

Description: OKI MC361DN

Outstanding performance

The compact OKI MC361dn is designed to bring professional, high-quality color print, scan, copy, and fax functionality into any workgroup, achieving rapid 24/22ppm (mono, color) print speeds and superb 1200 x 600 resolutions through advanced digital LED technology and ProQ2400 Multilevel Print Head Controller. What you may not already know is the fact that the OKI MC361dn is really one of the most powerful desktop MFPs among its class. Its beefy 533MHz processor and 256MB of memory (which can be further upgraded to 768MB) makes quick work even or large color print jobs, boasting a first page to print time of just 8.5 second in mono and 9 second in color.

With all this power, the OKI MC361dn has to be able to manage high volume media usage, so it’s no surprise that it has one of the best media handling implementations for a A4 MFP. Besides featuring an already large 250-sheet paper tray, it also comes with a secondary 100-sheet multipurpose tray, a 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder (RADF), and a built-in duplexer for automatic double-sided print and scan capabilities. And as if that’s not enough, the OKI MC361dn features flexible media handling too, capable of printing banners up to 1.3 meters long and on card stock as thick as 220gsm.

Business-wide efficiency

Performance aside, the OKI MC361dn is really a simple MFP to use, with convenient one touch buttons for each of its main features and a large, intuitive LCD control panel to navigate advanced functions; you can also directly print from or scan to a USB drive, and send faxes from a PC. By integrating multiple devices, advanced digital LED technology, and an auto duplexer, the OKI MC361dn isn’t just ergonomic, it keeps costs low by reducing paper and energy usage. Its ECO mode automatically adjusts power consumption and in Deep Sleep, it uses less than 1.5W of power. Award winning or not, you’ve got to admid that the OKI MC361dn is just about the best A4 color MFP you’ve ever read about.
