First Impressions

The first thing you notice about this device is its weight. The Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro easily weighs around 3 KG and the major weight being that of the tab. You would not want to carry around a tab that is so heavy. Connecting the tablet to the dock is extremely easy but once you have docked it to the keyboard, it lands up covering the windows button thus making it useless. The 11 inch screen surely gives enough indication that this should be used more like an ultrabook. The keyboard is stylish and Samsung has managed to nail this one perfectly. There is a perfect balance between portability and ergonomics. The S pen is a great addition and is a much needed component in using the device.

Review

The video experience on the device is excellent. The picture is extremely sharp and offers accurate colors. Be it outdoor or indoors, the device provides a seamless viewing experience. There are 2 small speakers at the back of the device that offer audio at a decent volume. We obviously did not expect impeccable bass and surround sound experience from the device. A Windows 8 operating system along with a Intel® Core™ i5-3317U Processor and 4GB RAM offer wonderful performance. It leaves you with little or no room to complain about the performance of this device. The 5 megapixel primary and 2 megapixel secondary camera both offer great clarity. Intel’s integrated HD Graphics 4000 is a great addition as we could play some light games with ease.

Not everything can be good about the device isn’t it? The weight is surely an issue, apart from that the battery life is a greater problem. The device lasts for not more than 6 hours without a charge.

Verdict

Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro is an excellent Windows 8 hybrid that offers superior performance due to its high-end specs. For a price at which it is offered, it feels steep when compared to its competitors. The S Pen, multiple speakers, etc are great additions. Overall, it is a great device that needed to be lighter and have a better battery life.
