Samsung NP540U3C is a small and fashionable
Ultrabook, coming with Windows 8. One of its main attractive features is touch
screen.
As Windows ME, Windows, and series of Star
Trek are numbered weirdly, Windows 8 is not able to appeal impression for many
critics. However, touch screen of this Samsung laptop may be enough to change
some points of view.
A criticism for Windows 8 is that it is not
operating system for desktops or tablets. It is the hybrid thing of both, and
lack of consistency of two modes. With choice of methods of entering data
including touch screen, trackpad, and keyboard, users definitely seek out their
own most appropriate way.

However, we have recognized some
incongruence. Charm bar will appeal automatically when we point mouse to application
menus. Sometimes, Windows 8 applications will start to react for recognizable
touches. On the other hand, that is not necessarily mistakes of Samsung,
Windows 8 on a touchscreen Ultrabook is the best experience that we ever have
with operating system.
We have to wonder if Windows has
contributed to the score of 3.691 in PCMark 7 or not. It is lower than some
Intel Core i5 laptops with the same technical specs which we used. However,
Samsung hardly ever has slow feeling, and it has gone through our Fear game
test with playable average frame rate: 28fps.

NP540U3C comes with 500GB hardware.
Ultrabook design of Intel is based on solid technology, so this decision is for
saving money more than maintaining the best user experience. There are
available more expensive Series 5 laptops which are equipped SSD, but hardware
option will be fit for those who want to save more music, films, and photos.
AllShare software promises to allow you to transmit wireless media to other
devices.
Samsung impresses us with strong building
quality and nice shape. Keyboard tray and upper casing are made of aluminum and
are dark grey. Under casing is made from glass, hard, smooth, and lasting. With
1.69 kilograms, it is lower for an old laptop and a bit heavier according to
ultraportable standard; however, it feels hard and balancing in your hands.
On the other hand, there are some troubles
arising in smaller details of Samsung. Combination between casing and screen
feels sharp, for example.
When considering Ultrabook, it is difficult
to not think about Macbook Air, with oblique screen and smooth transition between
glass and aluminum trackpad. Macbook Air also appears in our mind when we see
the shape. Series 5 is slim, with 19.9 mm at the thickest point, tapers down to
16.9 mm at the slimmest side. The rounded edges, large trackpad, and indented
keyboard are all similar.
We wish to have a lighter color than
“Metallic Titan”, but they are different from other laptops of Apple.
For such a thin laptop, you have quite lots
of ports. There are two 2.0 USB ports and set of memory card reader 3-in-1 on
the right. On the left, there is gigabit Ethernet, 3.0 USB, and HDMI
connections. This Ultrabook can compact, but this feature turns it to
existential multifunction computer.

By balancing capability of movement and
strength, 13.3-inch Samsung NP540U3C-A01UK is a stable Ultrabook that is
flexible enough to use at home or “mobile” life. It is also suitable to replay
media and tasks of increasing productivity, and the price of $1,088 is not too
bad.
