Design and Specifications
Pixel Chromebook is a cleverly cut suit. I
am using a metaphor, but that's exactly what the design of Pixel evokes. The
straight lines are simple but elegant. The color looks great on the simple
white shirt, and perhaps be an orange silk tie. The simplicity of the design really
has pixels for oversized feelings. After all this is one small laptop, with the
size of the 13inch MacBook Air. However, standing over context, the aluminum
surfaces seem to continue for decades. Just when you wrap a hand around the
edge, then you realize that it's so small and thin.

As we've mentioned, the back is filled with
a long silver fittings. On the left side are two USB ports, a DisplayPort, and
power port and headphone / microphone, which are the same size, with black rims
do a microphone port. That detail is indicative of time and attention for even
the smallest components. On the right side are the SD card slot and SIM tray on
the higher SKU. The front is blank except dent to lid. The bottom is a large
smooth panel with a small rubber foot at the far corners, with the required
label and whatnot.

Pixel Chromebook is very nice. Not flashy,
not cheap. It is as fascinating as the most exquisite designs of Cupertino. The
most colorful of the design is not that screen, it is the light going on when
the lid opens up. If I ever saw before, I can imagine the blue, green and red which
will attract my eyes quickly. I want to know what it is, who did it, where I
can find it. If you do not know the company behind the "chrome", you
will have some signs from looking at the design. That is until the lid is
closed and the LEDs pulse with Google livery. It's gorgeous, it has a
super-density screen, crams with wonderful technology, starts with $1,299 ...
and it is running a browser.
I'm not going to lie I am excited about this
product at the moment I saw that leaked video a few weeks before the
publication. At the time, I hoped that it was still a few months before the
launch, with plans to build it on Intel's Haswell SoC or a quad-core ARM
Cortex-A15 SoC. I also hoped that it will be priced to compete with Ultrabooks,
around $500 but under $1,000. In a sense, I still wish all these things are
true.
Compare specifications, Pixel falls into
one strange place. Dual-core Ivy Bridge is slightly weak, with the basic rate
of just 1.8GHz and a maximum turbo speed of 2.7GHz, this 17W part is similar to
what you would find in the 13-inch MacBook Air, but lost to what you would find
in many present Ultrabooks. The screen is unique among modern laptops with 3:2
aspect ratio, although you are up to the dock bar, it actually has the more
traditional 16:10. If you prefer a high screen, there are many ways to change
settings and take full advantage of the entire screen. 12.85 inch screen beats 13
inch MacBook with Retina screen in pixel density, due to smaller size and
higher resolution (2,560x1,700). We'll talk more about that capacitive screen
later, but it is certainly important reason for the high price, and it is an
important part of turning it into a model like this inspire.

The limited SSD storage is iSSD solution of
SanDisk, which is a big step up from slow eMMC solutions, but meaning moderate
performance, and not be able to upgrade. You will not slip SODIMMs that are added
in this thing, RAM is sealed, with only part the user can replace a daughter
card which contains the LTE radio. The battery is large compared to 13 inch MBA
(MacBook Air) with 59Wh, but Retina MacBook Pro (rMBP), which helps to explain
the limited battery life. Weight is almost between rMBP and 13inch MBA,
actually the design of Pixel can give Apple some ideas about Retina MacBook
Air.
