To be able to take beautiful pictures with
the phone, in addition to making sure to clean the surface of lens, changing
the way of holding the camera, using the flash properly…, users must also take
advantages of the special modes integrated on the phone.
With the following tips, you can improve
your ability of taking photos with your phone easily.
Clean the camera protection glass
Always
clean the camera protection glass to take beautiful photos.
Cleaning the surface of protection glass of
the integrated camera is prerequisite to getting a glitter picture taken with
the smartphone, either the front or rear of the camera. Always remember to
clean the glass surface and protect it from fingerprints and dust to be able to
take beautiful photos.
Manipulation of cleaning the outside glass
surface of camera is quite simple, but you should avoid using the materials
that can scratch the glass when manipulating.
Set the capture application on the main screen
Set
the camera app icon on the lock screen or home screen for quick access.
You should also completely set the
integrated imaging applications or other applications installed right on your
home screen or lock screen of the smartphone to help save time for finding and launching
the applications, do not miss the precious moments of taking beautiful photos.
Change the angle and how to handle a smartphone
Change
the angle helps to have more creative picture frames.
Most users taking pictures with the phones
place their phones vertically or horizontally and take pictures in the sitting
or standing postures. These traditional postures are really boring and lack
creativity.
Try lowering your body down, choose a
higher position or simply tilt your phone at a small angle. Then, you may
create the compelling angle of view, bringing the more comfortable feelings for
the viewers.
Use the natural light
In photography, lighting is a very
important decisive factor, and of course, this is no exception for
"photographers" using mobile phones.
Whenever you take a picture with your
phone, you should pay attention to the light of the surrounding environment.
You should also avoid the dark environments because most smartphones are
equipped with the small sensors, limited shutter speed, short influence of
flash integration and poor noise reduction capabilities. So, users hardly have
the option to add "more light” to the photos taken like the exposure of a
dedicated camera.
Basically, always choose the direction to
take a picture so that the light source is coming from behind you. Most
smartphones will automatically adjust the apertures according to the focus area
of the shooting. This means that if you focus on the light in the frame, the
image will tend to be darker.
On computers running iOS, some applications
like ProCamera or Camera+ can separate the metering and focus areas of the
camera, allowing photographers to measure the light in the dark areas, but not
to make the picture frames look too bright or vice versa.
Do not use digital zoom
Each integrated camera has a determined
focusing distance, so coming too close to the subject to capture may lose the
definition of images. In contrast, the situations with the remote subjects, you
should never use the zoom feature on the device - for most smartphones supporting
only digital zoom feature. To "focus" on the samples taken, the
simplest way is to move closer to the samples instead of using the camera's
digital zoom.
Avoid the boring layout
Avoid
the sample layout in the center of the image.
With the genre of portraits, placing the
sample in the middle of the frame is considered to be the most boring layout.
To avoid this, you just need to move the camera to the right or left so that
the sample taken is beyond the center of photo.
To be able to both capture portraits and
get the background behind, you need to adjust the layout so that the landscape
fits in the frame first and then shorten the distance between the sample and
the camera.
Use the integrated flash when shooting backlit subjects
The
scenes taken backlit without using flash will make the subjects darker.
As mentioned above, take the picture with
the phone with the light source coming from behind is a priority choice.
However, there are some cases you cannot apply this way of taking as the sample
is backlit or has too many shadows.
To solve this, you are forced to use the
flash (if equipped smartphones available). With the proper distance, the light
from the flash can also reduce the phenomenon of shadows on faces when shooting
under the intense of the sun light as well as brighten “the sample” of the
backlit scenes more.
Turn off the flash when shooting close-up pictures
Do
not use the flash when shooting close-up pictures.
With the genre of Macro photography, you
should turn off the integrated flash because in this genre, the distance from
the camera to the object taken is very short, measuring direct light can make
the subjects too bright and lose the details of pictures.
The best way is to use the macro mode if a
smartphone with this available integrated feature. Besides, the distance
between the sample taken and the camera is also a very important factor to
avoid the "out" of image fidelity. If you choose to take pictures
with the touch button, please pay attention to touching gently to avoid the
images blurred.
Use the HDR mode
Use
HDR for the photo taken (right) to have the more beautiful sky.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a term used to
describe the scenes in the same frame with different multiple very bright and
very dark picture areas. Whenever this feature is activated, the smartphone
will shoot the consecutive images, including one image with enough brightness,
one with lack of light and one with residual light and then merge them into a
unique image.
With the HDR mode, the picture frames with
high contrast levels when shooting from a smartphone are highly detailed and
the colors look more natural. However, when using this mode, the photographer
needs to hold the phone tightly to avoid the images blurred.
Use the panorama mode for taking landscape pictures
Cut
the image to get a satisfactory panorama image.
Most smartphones are equipped with the
wide-angle lens 24 mm or 30 mm. So, the simple way to be able to capture the
wide landscapes is to step back a few steps and combine with HDR mode (if
possible). However, the scenes do not allow you to move a lot, use the panorama
mode to get the wider scenes.
Currently, the newest smartphones using the
Android 4.2 OS and iOS 6 are added the panorama feature to the default camera
application. If your device does not support, you can use the soft wares like
Panorama-360, Photaf Panorama for Android or 360 Panorama, Panorama Free for
the iOS devices with the lower versions than iOS 6.
