CorelDraw 10 : Basic Printing - To print multiple copies of a document & To print specific pages or objects

6/13/2012 11:42:36 AM
CorelDraw 10 stores vector drawings as mathematical equations and bitmap images as pixels, but both types of graphics are rendered as dots when they're printed. The quality of the printed page depends on the resolution of the output device. The higher the resolution, the finer and sharper the output will be.

Each time you print, you'll start by opening the Print dialog box (Figure 1). This tabbed dialog box provides access to all of CorelDraw's print services.

Figure 1. The Print dialog box offers a generous assortment of print options.

Basic Printing

Printing most documents doesn't require you to set a multitude of confusing print options. All you may have to do is click a button or two.

To print one copy of a document:

1.
Choose File > Print, press , or click the Print icon on the Standard toolbar.

The Print dialog box opens with your default printer selected (see Figure 1).

2.
To accept the default printer and the current print settings, click the Print button.

  Tip

  • Always save your document before printing.

To print multiple copies of a document:

1.
Choose File > Print, press , or click the Print icon on the Standard toolbar.

2.
In the Copies area of the Print dialog box (Figure 2), type a number in the Number of copies text box or click the arrows to set the number.

Figure 2. Specify the number of copies to be printed.

3.
To accept the remaining print settings, click the Print button.

  Tip

  • If your document has more than one page, the Collate check box will be available (see Figure 18.2). Normally, when you request a printout of a three-page document, the printer prints all page 1's, all page 2's, and then all page 3's. If you check the Collate check box, you'll receive the printouts in sorted order.

To print specific pages or objects:

1.
Choose File > Print, press , or click the Print icon on the Standard toolbar.

2.
Click one of the following radio buttons in the Print range area (Figure 3):

  • Current document. Print the entire document that was active when you chose the Print command.

  • Documents. If you have several documents open, this option lets you select the ones to be printed (Figure 4).

Figure 3. If you click the Documents radio button, you can choose the open documents that will print.

  • Current page. Print only the currently active page.

  • Selection. If you selected objects before opening the Print dialog box, only those objects will be printed.

  • Pages. Print only specific pages of the current document. Use the text box to specify the page numbers or range to print. Using the drop-down list, specify whether even and odd, only even, or only odd pages in the range will be printed.

3.
Click the Print button.

Figure 4. In the Print range area, specify what you want to print.

  Tips

  • If you use the Pages option, you can print a range of pages by separating them with a hyphen (1-5); individual, nonconsecutive pages by separating them with commas (1, 5, 7); or a combination of ranges and individual pages (1-3, 6, 8-10). If you enter a number followed only by a hyphen (such as 3-), the document will print from the specified page to the end of the document.

  • While working on a document, you can display the area of the page that will print by choosing View > Printable Area.
