6/3/2014 2:58:38 AM

You can get to the Microsoft Office hub by tapping its tile either from the App List or from the Start screen. If the tile isn’t already on the Start screen, you can add it from the App List by tapping and holding its icon and tapping Pin to Start, as shown here.

Preexisting Tile

Some Windows Phone 8 devices already include an Office tile on the Start screen. The Start screen configuration differs among manufacturers.

When you initially open Microsoft Office, the Places screen displays. This screen gives you access to Office documents saved in various locations. Places is one of two screens that is accessible by flicking left and right; the other is Recent, which grants access to all your most recently accessed Office documents.

The Recent Screen

The Recent screen displays a list of the most recently opened Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. You can tap on a document to open it, but other options are available if you tap and hold a document:

Pin to Start: A shortcut to the document appears on the Start screen.

Share: You can share the document through email or by using the Tap+Send feature.

Save To: You can save the document to a different location.

Delete: The document is erased.

Remove from Recent: The document is removed from the list of recently opened documents.
