Microsoft launched the first video call app for Windows Phone base, using the technology it had in the 8.5-billion-USD Skype commercial affair last year, when the company found the way to compete with FaceTime service of Apple.

Introduced at the mobile world exhibition, the service is now being provided in beta mode, and will allow users to make video call via 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connection, a wider connection range than that of Apple’s service which just has Wi-Fi.

In a video illustration, companies show that users can send and receive chat messages during phone calls and organize multi-people calls in any video call.

When announcing the trial use time of beta, the product vice-president of Skype Rick Osterloh, said that the new products would provide many video call options and promise more upcoming developments.

“This is just the start of Skype for Windows Phone, it will become much better. We find unreliable potential in including Skype function in Windows Phone to allow great experience for you,” wrote he in a blog posting.

Osterloh added more that the fuller version of the app would have been present since April, while Windows Phone users could try beta version by clicking the link from their smartphones.

Microsoft hopes that including apps such as Skyke for Windows Phone base will increase interest in its operating system when it intends to attack the smartphone market.
