Overclockers UK Primo 6100i
$520 (VAT included)
If your demand on the computer is quite
simple and you’d rather not spending money on the features which you never ever
use, Primo 6100i of Overlockers is ideal for you. It only set you back
approximately £400 for a basic unit along with a dual-core Intel Core i3-2100
(3.1GHz) processor. Of course, it can’t be compatible with the quick Core i5
system we used to see, but with the overall scores are 62 in our benchmark
test, it is certainly proved to be suitable with the daily task demand. With
the 4GB DDR3 RAM 1600MHz, the system won’t stop though a plenty of browser tabs
and applications running simultaneously.
A noticeable weakness of the Core i3
processor is its integrated graphics capability – the graphics on the HD 2000
chipset of Intel is not powerful enough to run most of the current modern 3D
games at the average speed and high resolution, and the PC couldn’t run our
Dirt 3 test at all. Nevertheless, if your hobby is limited into the normal
games occasionally, you won’t encounter any problems in running games such as
Plants vs Zoombies of Popcap or any old 3D games like Portal of Valve,
supposing you decrease the graphics settings.
The mother board Asus’s P8H61-M of the PC
provides a PCI card slot, 2 PCI-E x1 slots and 1 slot for the PCI-E x16, which
you can use if you’d like to add more graphics cards. The 500W power supply
will be definitely powerful enough to face up with a premium graphics design
such as Radeon HD 6950 of AMD. However, please bear in your mind that most of
memory cards will block the PCI-E x1 right under the x16 slot.
Two of the memory slots are occupied;
therefore, if you want to upgrade its memory, it is compulsory for you to
replace the current modules. As for 4 SATA2 ports, two of them are used by the
hard drive and DVD-RW drive. The hard drive is quite small with 500GB, but it
is quite plenty of room for music collection, softwares as well as video.
Furthermore, it is definitely reasonable for a low-price PC, especially basing
on the current supply of the hard drive. Its case, which is quite compact –
light and portable but touch, has 3 disk slots for 3½ inch and 1 slot for 5½
inch.
At the front of the case, 2 USB ports, 1
port for headphone as well as 1 port for a usual 3.5mm microphone are easily to
be found. At the back of the motherboard, it has 6 more USB ports – no USB3
ports – as well as 1 PS/2 port, DVI and VGA graphics outputs, 1 port for
Gigabit Ethernet and analogue 5.1 surround audio output along with an optical
S/PDIF output for the digital sound. PC doesn’t accompany with any keyboard or
mouse.
At the price of $520, Primo 6100i has a
reasonable price with its performance and specifications, but Hyper Flame of
Palicomp is at the same price if you order it without the monitor and
accessories. It is also equipped with a 1TB hard disk, Blu-ray drive and a more
powerful graphics capability from the AMD Llano A8-3850 processor.
