Battery life All MacBook Pro models will last around seven hours on a charge, based on Apples example of browsing the web via wifi. Without wifi, you could get even longer, but apps that work the processors harderwill reduce battery life. Apples MagSafe connector ensures you wont damage your laptop if you trip over the power cable while charging - the lead just pops out

Ports

Description: Ports

The 13in MacBook Pro has two USB 2 ports, one FireWire 800, one Thunderbolt and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as 802.11n wifi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, audio in/out and an SD Card reader. The headphone port doubles as line in and digital out, and stereo speakers with a subwoofer are built in. The 15in adds a dedicated line in, while the 17in also has an extra USB 2 and an ExpressCard/34 slot

Optical drive

All Pros have a built-in 8x slot- loading SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

Screen

Description: Screen

Like all Apple displays, the MacBook Pro’s screens have a high-gloss finish.

This maximizes contrast and sharpness, but reflections can be distracting. The 15in model has an optional higherresolution screen (more pixels packed into the same area), which in turn has an anti-glare option, at extra cost. Anti-glare is also a £40 option on the 17in screen

All MacBook Pros can also drive an external display at up to 2560 x 1600 via the Thunderbolt port. This can act as a Mini DisplayPort to connect to earlier Apple monitors, or connect to DVI or VGA with adaptors from Apple, or to HDMI with third-party adaptors
