Purchase or kill does not happen in
Linux
Similar to the manner in which the old
roman street network had helped Apostel Paulus with its signposts to spread the
teachings and customs of Christian order community, the option of online
communication helped formerly isolated software ghosts and groups to a new type
of sense of community and power. On 1st November 1998, a day after Halloween,
the American author and programmer Eric S. Raymond published the so-called
"Halloween documents” on his website. In it are internal papers of
Microsoft that had been passed on to him, which was about strategies with which
the prospering freeware respective open source movement check should be
offered.
Purchase
or kill does not happen in Linux
What was obvious through the memos was that
crowds in the world of scattered software people who work without boss and
without payment were absolutely in the position to give respect to the large
software companies of the planet. More still: The minutes of the meeting gave
detailed information on where Microsoft was seriously at the risk in its
business through the development of the open- source movement (with Linux as
code fundament) and that traditional "countermeasures" like smear
campaigns.
It did not take seven years to develop the
software production of a digital global community from a freakish programming
project, which was equal or even superior to the offers of the conventional
software industry in several points, technical as well as ethical. A
commercially non-vulnerable project like Linux that does not manage values in
the form of private property but in the form of useful common property, (which
can earn money with the service performances) is actually a rebellious threat
for a traditional company that concentrates itself on pure free-enterprise
principles. The standard strategies against competitors - buy or kill - are not
effective here anymore. Linux is not a company but a virtual community with a
mission. And you cannot take from anybody what you don't have. Those who do not
work for money but look at work as pay do not have to worry of drop in sales
and attempted extortion. You get the warm feeling to contribute something to public
welfare that is essentially concrete than only beautiful words. Software is
something that impacts the social reality always strongly in the 21st century.
Linux Missionaries Are Highly Motivated
Preacher for the freedom: With his hard work for free software, Richard
Stallman contributed substantially for the success of Linux
The community that had begun to take shape
in the 70s and 80s for Richard Stallman and the other big hackers of his
generation, reminded of a secluded or spiritual community - often bearded men
who are hardly interested in material trumpery apart from hardware, wear any
clothes and generally have something with ascetics and who immerse themselves
in their code which is otherwise to be found only in religious deepness or
discuss questions how you could improve this planet. Just like missionaries,
these enthusiastic people are also today highly motivated. They are inspired by
the belief that a Linux using world would be a better world.
That Linux is not everywhere has something
smoothing. You are not overrun, and things are not forced upon you. On the
contrary, Linux always has the reputation to be bulky and complicated for
normal users who are not nerdy. However, there are Linux distributions that are
easy going. "Developers have submitted patches for the Linux kernel that
stabilises the energy efficiency option RC6. This way, the option could be
activated as standard in kernel 3.4" - Whoever reads something like this,
foresee why Linux is bliss for the tinkerer but not to someone who wishes this
as a simple the bread and butter operating system. To go straight to the point:
"Mother wants help with the computer, but does not want you to explain how
you compile a kernel".
The community helps during emergencies
To install Linux is like setting up a
seawater aquarium. A small seawater aquarium is not worthwhile if it is not
orderly. However, this is more expensive than a stingy fresh water aquarium.
However, if everything is in flux, it is wonderful - one swims like a fish in
the data ocean. I think the best advice you can give to anybody who wants to
deal with Linux is: get somebody who already has experience and let him help
you for the first steps. You can also say: let yourself be converted. This
shall not be any problem even for people who are not mad as a hatter with
religion. Linux is religion for the atheist.
Creator
of the system: Linus Torvalds wrote the Linux kernel in 1991 and thus, the base
for several Linux distributions
Like in Christianity, where there are
different faiths like the Catholic or the Protestant, Linux knew different
distributions. To install Linux on your PC is to prevent sufferings like data
losses, viruses or malware. And as the traditional religion promises relief
without that, one must pay more than a temporary donation, Linux in the same
manner is free of cost refraining from temporary expenses for forwarding
expenses or support. In each case, you see yourself accepted in a remarkable
community. Everywhere on the network, there are supports, information and news,
for beginner as well as for alpha geeks. With Linux - this is added to every
distribution to a certain extent - the Internet shows that what it has is
potential for world -wide idea exchange, digital neighbourly help and a
pragmatic form of revolution.

Linux is an eldorado for hobbyist. As a mini operating system, it is the base
for free programmable robots as seen here in the image of the Lego Mindstro
Linux is a system of full
misunderstandings: It is insignificant, however, pratical whoever uses it, for
example, in the cell phone or as "Embedded system” in the auto. An
overview of the fact
Approximately 10,000 developers meet on Linux Day that takes place annually to
inform themselves about new developments. The Linux day is considered to the
largest Linux exhibition of Europe
The Linux hotel in Essen (linuxhotel.de) considers itself as ideal meeting
place for Linux technicians and programmers. Beside having a relaxed
atmosphere, sauna and fitness area, the hotel also offers a freely accessible
test server
