Camera
Latitude 10 has the 2MP front camera, 720p for
video chatting along with the 8MP rear camera with flash when we take some
photos of us in the bright room, our shots seem to be grainy with dark yellow.
Regretfully, this is an actuality for most of the tablet webcams but moving to
an area with natural light will be useful if you have to make a Skype meeting
when necessary.

Our image samples from the 8MP rear camera
show that the color is accurate and mainly look pretty sharp. Some images taken
in dark environments look darker than they should be, and the shots taken with flash
look faded. The camera options are quite limited: there adjusts for brightness
and contrast, along with a switch for auto or manual exposure. The footage
sample at Union Square in New York looks vivid and doesn’t show much vibration.
In brief: if you insist on carrying the tablet along to record your adventures,
of course the camera of Latitude 10 will be enough.
Software and warranty
Dell reinforces the position of Latitude 10
as a business device with features related to security, including TPM and
supports for Computrace. Remember that this software isn’t available on the Essentials
version of the device. The company also provides data encryption to protect the
file.

related to security
We have seen lots of preloaded apps which
are more annoying than the selective software on Latitude 10. From the
beginning, the tablet includes Dell Backup and Recover, a version using Microsoft
Office and Skype as a trial. You will also find the standard Windows 8 apps,
such as Bing, Maps and Weather. Our Latitude 10 configuration equipped with 3G also
comes with the AT&T All Access utility to control your data pack. Dell provides
limited standard hardware warranty for 1 year.
Configuration options and competitors
There’s some existing configuration of
Latitude 10, all of which have 1.8GHz Intel Z2760 processor and 2GB RAM. At the
basic level is the configuration called Essentials, pricing at 499 USD, running
Windows 8 and providing 32GB SSD. With an extra 80 USD (579 USD in total), you
can upgrade to the 64GB Essentials model. Next is Latitude 10 pricing at 649 USD,
for the Windows 8 Pro fellow, 64GB SSD, convertible battery, active stylus
support and security features such as TPM. With 779 USD, the 64GB model
includes the similar features and adds an extra smart card reader and
fingerprint reader, and it also supports mobile broadband. You can also choose
the 849USD Mobility pack of Dell, which includes a productivity-increasing dock
and 3G connection.
We have considered the 2 configurations of Latitude
10.the first one is the Mobility pack, which Dell supplements with some
accessories. With the convertible 4-cell battery, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse,
soft cover and the Wacom digitizer, this option starts at 1,019 USD. (Note that
Dell normally runs ads, so you may see that the price is a little different). However,
due to 1 broken battery, Dell has sent us another model for testing: the Enhanced
Security version with a fingerprint reader, convertible 4-cell battery and
productivity-increasing dock. That configuration – without the accessories such
as Bluetooth keyboard and mouse – costs $934. If you’re intend to buy Latitude
10, we recommend you spending your money for the full ornament, because you
will need the keyboard and may be the exterior screen – to actually work.
Namely, these additional stuffs bring the price to the Ultrabook segment, and
you will have no Core i5-level performance for the hybrid tablet of Dell.
As it always is, we recommend a close
investigation before committing to a product, and you have plenty of different
selections if Latitude 10 rouses your interest. When talking about good value,
it’s hard to beat Asus VivoTab Smart, which offers you 64GB of capacity with
the price of 499 USD. We love the design of this 1.28pound tablet with the back
cover made from polycarbonate – and pretty good camera, but battery life is not
the best among the group, and there’s no pen support. The 550USD Iconia W510 of
Acer is another cheap-priced product, and it has good battery performance and
IPS screen. The disadvantage is the cramped and unattractive keyboard dock and
it lift the price to 750 USD.
As
it always is, we recommend a close investigation before committing to a
product, and you have plenty of different selections if Latitude 10 rouses your
interest.
If you want to use the stylus, try Lenovo
ThinkPad Tablet 2. This one maybe our favorite low-power Windows 8 hybrid
tablet, thanks to the comfortable keyboard and impressive battery life. Pen
input force you to pay a slightly costly price: 649 USD for the 64GB model
equipped with the stylus. Lenovo also have IdeaTab Lynx that is friendlier to
customers. There’s also ATIV Smart PC Pro, which runs the full Core i5 CPU and
includes S Pen, but it will make you spend 1.200 bucks.
Conclusion
There’re lots of things to be interested
about Dell Latitude 10, a not-small part is due to the large number of optional
accessories helping to increase the device productivity. Even if there’s no
convertible 4-cell battery, this tablet provides good battery life, and the
bright IPS screen stands out among other screens in its segment.
There’re
lots of things to be interested about Dell Latitude 10
However, we don’t say that this product
have no fault: some of the most useful features, such productivity-increasing
dock and the optional keyboard, feel like they’re not designed for the mobile
life style, and how useful the accessories are when they can’t travel
everywhere with you? The price is pretty high when calculating all of the
accessories making this system business-friendly. If your budget can handle it,
spending for the most advanced configuration with all the flowery things will
give you a stable product. However, those who need to stand in the 1.000USD boundary
should consider ThinkPad Tablet 2 and Asus ViviTab Smart.
Update: Dell Latitude 10 run Graphics Media
Accelerator of Intel chứ không phải Intel HD Graphics 4000.
