Asus P8277-V Mainboard - The Key LGA 1155-Based Mainboard Line (Part 1)
The functions and features of this mainboard may be suitable for the top boards in the past, but now a day it is just enough to put this product in the key product segments, making it a junior model from Asus on Intel Z77 Express chipset. And it is probably the first time we see integrated wireless support in a far not the top mainboard model like that.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3 GB - A Large Increase Occurring In Every Aspect (Part 5)
Cited actual numbers, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 780 3 GB is 30% more expensive than its old flagship, the GeForce GTX 680,in terms of the proposed price and is 30% faster in average. So, everyone involved, that is Nvidia and gamers are getting their 30% and both are happy. On the other hand, the GeForce GTX 780 announcement does not cause a change in the GPU lines.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3 GB - A Large Increase Occurring In Every Aspect (Part 4)
The GeForce GTX 780 has a faster startup, beats GeForce GTX 680 about 30-35% with 3DMark (2013). It's in a small gap behind about 3-4% but 3-5% over the Titan when was overclocked. It really is a promising start.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3 GB - A Large Increase Occurring In Every Aspect (Part 3)
To reduce the dependence of graphics performance on overall platform speed, we have overclocked six-core 32nm CPU core with our 48x multiplier, BCLK frequency was set at 100 MHz and "Load -Line Calibration" was enabled up to 4.8 GHz. The Vcore processor was raised to 1.38V in the mainboard BIOS.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3 GB - A Large Increase Occurring In Every Aspect (Part 2)
On the front side of the PCB, under heating pads, there are 12 FCBGA chipsets of GDDR5 memory with a total capacity of 3 gigabytes. Samsung's semiconductor chip is marked K4G20325FD-FC03
Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3 GB - A Large Increase Occurring In Every Aspect (Part 1)
The flagship graphics accelerator of Nvidia's new product line was introduced quite surprisingly. It not only increases the performance bar but also the price maximum. Our review today will reveal how such a large increase can occur on every aspect.

2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors of Intel® Z77, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5, Intel® Rapid Storage and Intel® Smart Response Technology), NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug (SATA3_1 connector shared with eSATA3 port)
ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Mainboard - An LGA 1155 Mainboard For Users That Use Multiple Drives (Part 6)
As a result, our new updated method looks as follows. We performed our power consumption measurements using the same Extech Power Analyzer 380803. This device is connected before the PSU and measures power draw of the entire system (without the monitor), including power losses occur in the PSU itself. I
ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Mainboard - An LGA 1155 Mainboard For Users That Use Multiple Drives (Part 5)
In the Introduction we bring you some of the Z77-based motherboards we had tested, but we can't use data from the previous review for comparison purposes due to the changes in our testbed configuration. That's why we run all the benchmarks again, using an ASUS P8Z77-V Premium as an opponent to the ASRock Z77 Extreme11.
ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Mainboard - An LGA 1155 Mainboard For Users That Use Multiple Drives (Part 4)
You can enter the mainboard's BIOS by pressing F2 or Del. The F6 key will launch the built-in Instant Flash utility to update software. The F11 will display a menu to select the boot device. Press the Tab key will remove the startup picture, so you could see the basic system information such as CPU clock rate and memory amount and descriptions of hotkeys.
ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Mainboard - An LGA 1155 Mainboard For Users That Use Multiple Drives (Part 3)
Every time you enter the BIOS, you hear unique sound effects from the speakers connected to the mainboard. In addition, the sound effects accompany navigation across the BIOS sections; a different sound indicates switching between BIOS parameters or selection of a certain parameter. I
ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Mainboard - An LGA 1155 Mainboard For Users That Use Multiple Drives (Part 2)
As we mentioned in the introduction, the key feature of the ASRock Z77 Extreme11 is its 8 additional SATA6 Gbit/s ports. The advantages of motherboard are not limited to them, though. Going beyond the functionality scope of the Intel Z77 Express chipset, it carries many extended controllers to implement more features.
ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Mainboard - An LGA 1155 Mainboard For Users That Use Multiple Drives (Part 1)
This mainboard has unprecedentedly rich functionality, including unique support for multiple SATA drives. Besides, it has many other advantages and very few drawbacks with one of them standing out among the others.
Amiga Mistakes - Part Two
Ever since Commodore took over the original Amiga company, the E format has been beset by mistakes in development and marketing that in some cases, even at the time (with a lack of hindsight,) took your breath away.
Icy Dock EZ-Dock MB981U3S-1S 2.513.50-inch SATA HDD Docking Station
Despite its complex name, the Icy Dock MB981U3S-1S is Dactually a fairly simple device, essentially allowing you to dock either a 3.5" or a 2.5 disk drive to any PC with a spare USB or eSATA connection. Its something of a niche product (as most of Icy Dock's storage solutions are), but most useful for those with lots of data spread across multiple drives that need to be portable.
Videocard Buyer’s Guide - It’s All About Looks (Part 3) - Gigabyte GTX 780 Windforce X3 OC
This is the new flagship consumer core from NVIDIA (based off Titan) and we must say we’re both impressed and disappointed all at the same time. While NVIDIA has managed to cut down the price a tad, they did so by cutting down the GPU. Sure, it still comes with 2,304 shaders, though compared to Titan’s 2,688 it still falls a little short.
Videocard Buyer’s Guide - It’s All About Looks (Part 2) - ASUS GTX 770 DirectCU II OC
The card itself is very attractive, with a smart yet aggressive GPU cooler balanced in the center of the card and a nice brushed aluminum back-plate for added PCB strength and circuit shielding. While we were admiring the rear plate, we noticed something interesting, and that is 6 solder points for voltage readings and volt modding.
Videocard Buyer’s Guide - It’s All About Looks (Part 1) - MSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr Gaming Edition
MSI has always provided stiff competition to ASUS and Gigabyte in the GPU marketplace, and the launch of the GTX 770 was no different. MSI are currently offering a handful of GTX 770 video cards, though the one we were most excited to look at is the new “G” (gaming) series card from MSI.
Gigabyte Z77- D3H - An Intriguing Motherboard
The gigabyte Z77 – D3H is an intriguing motherboard, as it uses a regular ATX form factor and is packed with features, yet it costs a mere $123. Admittedly, you don't get much in the way of luxury, so there are no micro buttons or POST debug display, and when you look closely you'll see that although the chipset heat-sink is screwed down, the power regulation heat sinks are secured by plastic pop pins.
Intel DZ77GA–70K Motherboard - Reliable And Decent Performance
The DZ77GA-70K has been replaced at the top of Intel's LGA1155 range with the introduction of Intel DZ77RE-75K, which gains a Thunderbolt port and costs $293. This has led to DZ77GA- 70K dropping in price over the past year from $278 to $210, which means you're effectively paying a $83 premium for that Thunderbolt port if you choose to buy the DZ77RE-75K.
Motherboard Buyer’s Guide - A Home For Haswell (Part 2) : Gigabyte G1.Sniper 5, Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
This is the only board we reviewed that isn’t directly targeted at game freaks like you. What do you miss out on in exchange for such a nice price? To be honest, not a great deal. Three PCIe x16 slots provide plenty of bandwidth for a dual SLI/CrossFire setup, and the three PCIe x1 and single PCI slots round out your options.
Motherboard Buyer’s Guide - A Home For Haswell (Part 1) : ASRock Z87 Extreme4, ASUS Maximus VI Extreme, ASUS Maximus VI Hero
With the release of the 4th Generation Core CPU, aka Haswell, Intel has released the latest reason to reach for your back pocket: the Socket 1150 design. Just five pins separate this from the physical design of the last generation of Socket 1155 boards, but Haswell’s radical reshaping of its power design and I/0 structures are justifications for the change.
Mouse And Keyboard Buyer’s Guide - Dual Wielding (Part 3)
The 4000 DPI sensor isn’t the best around, and yet it’s fine for most PC gamers, especially those who don’t need the precision required in first-person shooters. It’s only got four buttons, with twin thumb buttons, but some folks prefer to keep their mice simple.
Mouse And Keyboard Buyer’s Guide - Dual Wielding (Part 2)
The G500s is Logitech’s latest version of its highly successful mid-range gaming mouse, the G500. The button placement is basically identical, with four thumb buttons, a couple under your pointer and a single dpi swapper/scroll wheel lock. As expected, Logitech’s excellent scroll wheel is present and accounted for; not only does it scroll left and right, but it can also be unlocked into a free-spinning mode for web page scrolling.
Mouse And Keyboard Buyer’s Guide - Dual Wielding (Part 1)
Like Razer and Logitech’s MMO mice, the M95 places a plethora of buttons under your thumb. Unlike those two though, they’re not placed in a grid-arrangement, instead being placed in a much more natural circle around the resting position of your thumb. There are nine thumb buttons in total, and while it’ll still take a while to get accustomed to, it’s a better layout than the aforementioned MMOers.
MSI Z77A-G41 Plus - A Basic Motherboard
The GD55 sells for $122, while this G41 Plus costs $98, and the list of differences is significant. The G41 Plus has a single PCI Express 3.0 graphics slot, a second graphics slot that is PCI Express 2.0 x4, two PCI Express x1 slots and two legacy PCI slots. By contrast, the GD55 has dual PCI Express 3.0 slots and a third long PCI Express 2.0 slot, and doesn't have any legacy PCI slots.
Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
On the face of it, mechanical keyboards with few or no extra features can seem extortionately priced, but they also have themselves a dedicated fan base. This is largely thanks to the typing experience they provide, which is almost universally considered superior to that of cheaper, non-mechanical alternatives
CPU Buyer’s Guide - Hunting For Brains (Part 2)
Intel might be better known amongst PC gamers for its high-flying K-series, which delivers top-tier performance for those with the cash, but the company also has a substantial range of entry and mid-level processors. The i3-3220 is one of the most affordable products in its catalogue, but don’t let the price tag fool you; this little bugger still has plenty of power tucked away inside.
CPU Buyer’s Guide - Hunting For Brains (Part 1) : AMD A10-6800K, AMD FX-8350, AMD’s new FX-9590
It might not be quite as important in this 3D-accelerated age of powerful graphics cards, but your PC’s CPU is still a crucial component when it comes to game performance. This tiny thumbnail-sized wonder of silicon magic is responsible for most of the back-end work, feeding the framework of the world to the GPU, while also giving each of the enemy characters a brain, calculating the effects of gravity when a building collapses, and much, much more.
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit - High-Performance Memory
This is going to sound oddly extravagant coming from me, but if you're going to buy some RAM, then get some decent stuff. The price of memory is frankly silly these days, so the difference between some stock speed economy sticks and a couple of beauties like these Ballistix Sport modules isn't that great.
EVGA Z77 Stinger - A New Mini-ITX Motherboard
In essence the EVGA Z77 Stinger looks like a slice from a regular gaming motherboard that stops at the PCI Express 3.0 graphics slot. Because a Mini-ITX board is only 170mm wide, EVGA has limited itself to two DDR3-2133MHZ memory slots, and once you allocate the necessary space for the LGA1155 processor socket, there isn't much room left for extras.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX Titan Graphics Card
If you're itching to sink the thick end of $2,000 on a video card for your PC but aren't too keen on AMD's dual-GPU HD 7990, then Nvidia has got you covered with its brand new flagship GPU: the GeForce GTX Titan.
AMD A10-6800 - AMD Accelerated Processors for Desktop PCs
AMD launched its first APU - Accelerated Processing Unit, a CPU and GPU combined into one chip codenamed Llano along with the Fusion platform back in 2011, which was followed up with the Trinity series in 2012. Here in 2013 we now welcome the latest range known as Richland.
AMD Radeon HD 7990 - A Dual-GPU Graphics Card
Ever since the release of the Radeon HD 3870 X2 way back in early 2008, AMD has released a dual-GPU video card (i.e. two graphical processing chips on one physical card) comprised of two of its most powerful chips with each GPU generation.
Asus CrectCU Mini GeForce GTX 670 - The Smaller Picture
Also from Asus, the DirectCU Mini GeForce GTX 670 packs a reasonable punch. But what’s more impressive about this particular card is that it is built to be used with ITX cases. It’s just 17mm in length, which is a lot shorter than the majority of graphics cards out there. And it opens up a whole new avenue for smaller PCs – gaming.
ADATA Dash Drive Air AE400 - Two Gadgets In One
The ADATA Dash Drive Air AE400 is two gadgets in one. Small enough to fit inside a mug, the battery-powered AE400 creates its own Wi-Fi network and has a USB port and an SD memory card slot, so the contents of flash drives and memory cards can be accessed wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet.
QNAP Turbo NAS TS-221 - Simple Yet Powerful Storage
There are two types of NAS devices. They either come fitted with hard disks or arrive empty so you can fit them with hard disks of your choosing. The QNAP Turbo NAS TS-221 is one of the latter. It has a sturdy brushed metal case and a pair of hard disk trays that pull out from the front.
AMD A10-6800K Review – Richland-Based Desktop APU (Part 5)
The performance of the mixture Richland processor increases due to slightly higher clock frequency. However, there is no change in architecture or manufacturing process, making us a little worried that their power consumption can also be increased. So, Trinity can’t be proud of the good power consumption level, so it is not desirable.
AMD A10-6800K Review – Richland-Based Desktop APU (Part 4)
Promote its mixture processors AMD continues to remind us that the integrated graphics core can be used to speed up calculations based on common purpose. That is true. OpenCL and DirectCompute framework allow parallel calculations on both x86 and graphics cores that are supported by both AMD Trinity and Intel Ivy Bridge versions.
AMD A10-6800K Review – Richland-Based Desktop APU (Part 3)
To estimate the average performance of our today’s testing participant version, we use a new Futuremark PCMark 8 benchmark. It uses three test scenarios: Home, Work and Creative, and all three parts of our today’s test. I want to point out that Futuremark performs some heterogeneity algorithms in their benchmark utility that can take advantage of the potential of the integrated graphics cores for the calculation via OpenCL.
