Nokia Lumia 710
A
competitive Windows Phone equipment
Nokia
starts to launch the second Windows Phone equipment – Lumia 710 – in order to
provide users with another cheaper option beside the luxurious Lumia 800.
The
main difference between Lumia 710 and the big brother is design. Nokia chose to
keep the majority of the senior hardware technical features in 126g-weighed
equipment. Lumia 710 goes along with the circular frame, containing ClearBlack
3.7-inch monitor. The curved shape of the equipment gives it a similar
appearance to many other medium mobile devices like Galaxy Ace of Samsung.
The
general design quality is not as good as Lumia 800, which initially has a cubic
shape and it has a frame made from a unique polycarbonate piece. However, 710
gives a feeling of being well manufactured and comfortable in our palm.
One
micro-USB gate is placed on the device along with the physical power button and
headphone jack. Along the bottom of the device is a physical panel , a bit like
what is on Sony Xperia S. It has shortcuts for back, home and search which will
light up when being pressed.
The
back has a quite nice anti-glare surface and our testing model is cyan. There
are two other color combinations available - all black and white and cyan.
Nokia allows users to remove the lid to access the battery, while it is not
possible with Lumia 800. This will be attractive to business users who want to
bring extra batteries.
Under
the battery is a space for inserting micro-SIM card. Nokia seems to stick to
this standard because this is the second Windows Phone device relatively having
this function.
Lumia
710 has a single-core Qualcomm MSM8255 processor which is 1.4GHz and 512MB RAM.
These features are also found in Lumia 800; therefore, there are few things
differentiating them in performance.
Another
main function owned by model 800 is a 3.7-inch screen, 480x800 resolution and
ClearBlack technology of Nokia. We find that the screen has a suitable size to
browse the webs, and including IE9 helps to ensure rapid experience. Browser
supports HTML5, but it cannot run Adobe Flash content, so you cannot watch all
multimedia content.
The
major difference between two devices is storage and camera. 710 only has 8GB
for built-in storage. As long as this is not much basis for most of smartphones
come with a minimum of 16GB. As with all current Windows Mobile devices, there
is no removable SD card slot so you can not expand it.
Nokia
used 5MP camera in 710, placing it in the mid-range segment. The company
omitted Carl Ziess Optics technology present in Lumia 800 to reduce cost. Image
quality is quite good, but when you zoom it in by using digital zoom 4x, image
is likely to be blurring.
About
software, the accompanied device with the latest updated version of Microsoft
operating system, or Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Business users can take advantage
of Mobile Office 2010 which is already installed to create and edit Excel,
PowerPoint and Word content. Users are also able to connect Office 365 to
synchronize both work and personal accounts into one mailbox.
Synchronizing
email account and social networks is pretty easy and everything is smoothly
integrated into the Windows Mobile interface. We are still waiting for the
ability to create a mobile accessing point so that mobile phone can be used
with other devices such as tablets.
There are several exclusive applications for Nokia which is
very useful. They include Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music. Drive and
Maps provide users with map access and navigation guided by voice. Download
capability and saving maps after trips are excellent functions and they will be
suitable for the regular travellers. Music application provides access to
thousands of songs, which can be transmitted free of charge. It also pre-loaded
with third-party applications from eBay, ESPN, TripAdvisor and Sky News. Nokia
also plans to make the device which can be upgraded to the next version of
Windows Phone as it is launched this year.
There is nothing to complain about call quality - it is not
always true for smartphones. Similarly, battery does not seem to be a problem.
Nokia Battery 1300mAh, 1450mAh battery is slightly smaller than in Lumia 800.
However, in normal daily use, you will easily go through a day working with
Lumia, even when synchronizing multiple email accounts. Battery Saver feature
can also be opened at any time to help conserve energy and prolong battery
life.
With
the fact that 710 Lumia keeps most of the advanced specification of the more
expensive Lumia 800, it is a very attractive phone. Performance is smooth and
smooth interaction with other business applications such as Outlook and Office
can not be underestimated.
The
real distinguishing feature between this phone and Lumia 800 is camera,
internal memory and design. Perhaps Lumia 800 is more attractive, but in fact,
710 uses replaceable battery which may help it live longer.

microSD”.
